I created a Mass Snap animation, filter, and four stickers for Finland’s 105th Independence Day for Snapchat. Finnish Independence Day is celebrated every 6th of December. My concept for this year’s Independence Day is “Peace in Nature”. This year’s Independence Day in Finland is going to be significant because of the ongoing war so I wanted to highlight the feeling of peacefulness in Finnish nature. Nature is a big part of every Finnish person’s life and a lot of Finns find solace in Finnish nature.
In this concept, these feelings are reflected in the animals that are found in Finland, they are looking up, perhaps as a sign of hope. It is also reflected in the winter landscape as a lot of people resort to their cabins to relax and enjoy nature, and the cabins are usually situated by the lakeside. Finland is known as “The land of thousand lakes”. The two candles on the window have also been a part of the Finnish Independence Day tradition for years.
